Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Pedagogy (CRSP)
CARING AND CONNECTED COMMUNITIES
About This Path
This CRSP pathway introduces three core components that are integral to a culturally responsive and culturally sustaining learning environment. As teachers we engage in many classroom rituals and exercises to support growth and development such as opening routines, conferring, small group instruction, group work, mini lessons, feedback routines, and closing routines, and more. Great news! These are all avenues to incorporate CRSP practices. We hope you enjoy hearing from educators and young people as they share their perspectives and experiences related to cultural competence, critical consciousness, and cognitive capacity development. We also encourage you to explore the “Try It,” "Reflect,” and “Go Deeper,” recommendations.
This playlist contains resources that are relevant to educators across the globe. The words used to describe the learning in this playlist are subject to semantic interpretation. Political agendas, language translation, and cultural context may impact how some words, like "critical" and "cultural," are received and understood. As educators, it is essential that we acknowledge the difference between necessary and meaningful content and the semantic interpretation of words used to describe that content. Both content and semantics interpretation are important, but they are different.
