The Impact Series: The Impact on Open Design on Student Joy

🏄🏼‍♂️ The Impact Series is one of the elements of a new What School Could Be Global Community program called The Atlas Gang. Each TAG member (tireless educators working to reimagine education) will host and facilitate a gathering as part of this series. In this virtual gathering TAG member, Jimmy McCue and his Open Way colleague, Ben Owens (and their friends) will present the impact of open design on student joy.

Open Design is an equity-focused, empathy-driven methodology for innovation that centers on inclusivity, transparency, and collaboration. Open Design is a tool for driving local, crowdsourced innovation in schools, where the diverse voices and ideas of students, educators, and community members are central to the process. Rooted in principles of adaptability and shared ownership, Open Design empowers participants to co-create solutions that address complex challenges and foster a culture of continuous improvement and deep learning. Through this approach, schools become hubs of meaningful, student-informed change, grounded in real-world impact and growth that restores the joy and wonder that is inherent to learning. 🌈🏄🏼‍♂️
