Eye on Student Protagonism: Building Global Competencies Through Student-Designed Global Projects

In an increasingly interconnected world, it is vital for educators to foster and cultivate students’ global competencies and their global mindset. Student-designed global projects provide learners with the opportunity to develop intercultural and project management skills through the lens of global issues and global activism. Agency in student understanding of climate change on a local and global scale is developed through two unique projects: 1000 Voices on Climate (students curate global perspectives on climate change on video and post to Instagram) and Local Air Pollution (students at schools in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Portugal, and the US collect and analyze local air pollution data). As a deliverable, students will write and publish research papers
