Guest Bio

Jon Pennington is passionate about designing innovative and enriching learning experiences. He serves as the Educational Technologist at Mid-Pacific High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he cultivates a spirit of curiosity and creativity, collaborating with faculty and students to integrate emerging technologies. As a member of the school's AI Advisory Council, Jon works with industry experts and local community leaders to shape practices and policies that power deeper learning. He recently co-authored a research article in the Journal of Applied Instructional Design (JAID) on international students using ChatGPT as a scaffold for language learning. His work was also recognized by Hawai‘i Business Magazine, naming him one of the 20 for the Next 20, an honor given to emerging leaders shaping Hawai‘i’s future.

The Eye on Student Protagonism virtual events are dynamic professional learning experiences where students take center stage, sharing their projects, research, and initiatives. Each one-hour session features student-led presentations, interactive discussions, and opportunities for attendees to ask questions and provide feedback. These events foster connections among educators, students, and community members who are passionate about transformative education. Participants leave inspired by innovative student-driven ideas and teaching methods that can be applied in their own educational contexts.
